On 28 February and 1 March 2025, seven million believers from around the world united for Gather25, a 25-hour live broadcast spanning every continent.
This unprecedented, free event available in 87 languages brought together Christians from all denominations to repent, worship, and pray for the global church.
Bible teacher, author, and Gather founder, Jennie Allen opened Session 1: North America by sharing the heart behind the gathering – and that is to take the Gospel to everyone, everywhere.
“I keep finding myself in rooms where revival is happening… I feel like I’m in the center of a hurricane of God’s glory,” she shared.
A clarion call for the Church to wake up
Reading from Exodus 32 (The Golden Calf), Jennie Allen called believers worldwide to return to the church’s original mission.
“We love to worship what we see,” she said with urgency. “Wake up, Church. We have traded God’s power for self-indulgence, ease and comfort. We have traded making God known for making a name for ourselves. We have traded the adventure of following Jesus for our self-made plans that sound so reasonable.”
“We have traded intimacy with Jesus for entertainment and scrolling. We have traded holiness for subtle sins that accidentally become an addiction. We have traded awe and wonder for cynicism and pride, and we wonder why the Church is not effective, and why we are not seeing the [revival] storm,” she finished passionately.
Allen emphasised that in every room where revival breaks out, repentance is present. She reminded believers of the spiritual reality: “There is a God, there is an enemy, and both are after us.”
As she closed, she urged those in the room and online to repent before the Lord. “If revival were to begin, it would begin with repentance,” she declared. “Confession doesn’t save us; it heals us. It’s the moment we truly realise the Gospel is actually true.”
Allen was one of over 100 speakers, teachers, storytellers, and prayer leaders featured at Gather25, which broadcasted live from North America, Asia, Oceania, Africa, Eastern Europe, South America, and the Persecuted Church.
Labourers empowered by the Holy Spirit
Over 21,000 Gather Groups (also known as Watch Parties) took place in churches, campuses, fields, institutions and homes in 225 countries and territories across all seven continents during Gather25.
Kuala Lumpur hosted Session 5: Asia on the evening of 1 March 2025 under the theme ‘We would operate in the power of God.’
Pastor Mark Varughese of Kingdomcity Church emphasised the urgency of raising more workers for God’s kingdom.
“What we need to pray for is that millions of watchers would become millions of labourers. It’s not a job for one or two… but for every believer. Every Christian becoming a labourer is God’s plan for a weary and scattered world,” he charged.
He urged believers to labour in supernatural power through the Holy Spirit, referencing Acts 1:8: “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses.”
Make disciples, starting at home
Dr. Peter Tan-Chi of Christ’s Commission Fellowship shared that discipleship begins at home, starting with our loved ones.
“Discipleship has to do with generations,” he said, reading from Deuteronomy 6. “What else? It has to do with obedience, and it will bless those who are obedient.”
He explained that the heart is the key, and behaviour is the fruit of discipleship.
To disciple effectively, he encouraged believers to follow the MRI principle: Model it, build Relationships, and be Intentional.
“Why do young people turn away from the Church? It’s because they see hypocrisy in the church. Being a model is not about perfection, but authenticity,” he explained.
He reminded believers that the closer the relationship, the greater the influence, stressing that discipleship requires time and intentionality. He also cautioned against assuming that biological ties alone will naturally result in deep, meaningful relationships.
Dr. Tan-Chi shared how his eldest daughter was raped by intruders when she was 15 years old. It was the most painful experience, he recalled, as a father.
“Proverbs 22:6 talks of the word ‘train’ which is not to teach. To train is to create a desire [in your children]… I taught my daughter Romans 8:28. At the time, I could not see how God would work it out for good,” he remembered.
Today, his daughter is a mother of six children, a published author and counsellor to victims of sexual abuse.
“Think of who you need to model, spend time with and be intentional about. Begin with your family members,” he said.
Send us out, draw them in
Patrick Fung, Global Ambassador for OMF International, exhorted the Church to be fearless in its proclamation of the Gospel. He listed six traits of the early church found in Acts 4:
- The Church is a united community – raised their voices together
- The Church is a confident community – focused not on the crisis, but on God Himself.
- The Church is a waiting community – the early church did not wait passively but pleaded with God to consider their friends.
- The Church is a proclaiming community – fearless and faithful.
- The Church is a healing community – we need to ask God to bring healing today.
- The Church is a Spirit-filled community – the shaking of the place made them more unshakeable as God came in power.
“Prayer is indispensable if we expect God to bring a revival,” he said in closing. Like the early church, may we as the global church of Jesus Christ, be a united, confident, waiting, proclaiming, healing and Spirit-filled community.”
As the Asia session drew to a close, David Platt of Radical led those gathered in prayer. “Send us out, draw them in,” he boomed.
Other speakers in Session 5: Asia were Andrew and Juni Leong (Kingdomcity Church, Singapore), Seth Kim (Arise Asia and Lausanne Movement), David Platt (Radical), Hsulynn Oh (Kingdomcity Church, KL), Pr Jemima Varughese (Kingdomcity Church) and Andrew Yeo (FOPx and Cornerstone Community Church, Singapore). Worship was led by Kingdomcity Band.
A beautiful body of Christ, commissioned for His purposes
The session concluded at 9pm (KL time), with the broadcast transitioning to Romania, where the Eastern European church carried the torch of prayer, worship, and the Word forward.
Gather25 officially ended at 10am (KL time) in Peru, South America, before Jennie Allen delivered her closing remarks, surrounded by believers in Dallas, Texas.
“Wherever you are in the world, you’re part of a really beautiful Body. All across the earth, diverse and yet feels exactly like home, like family. We are not alone. God is moving and it is worth persevering,” she said.
Allen reminded everyone of Jesus’ final command before His ascension – to go and make disciples.
“We belong to the day. We are not people that belong to darkness, death, and suffering. We’re not home yet… we still have work to do. Let’s go, team,” she urged.
Inviting believers to kneel in prayer, Allen closed with a simple yet powerful prayer of repentance, recalibration, and commissioning.
“Take us, pour us out, and make us a love offering to the world You so love… Thank You. All glory, all honour to You alone. In Jesus’ beautiful Name, Amen.”
