Jesus is alive! 7 promises we can count on as followers of a living Saviour.

Blessed Easter! Every year on this day, Christians celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. We believe that after his death on the cross, He rose again after three days and is now seated at the right hand of the Father in glory.

What does it mean for us to serve a risen Saviour? Everything! Here are some of God’s promises to us in His Word, powerful truths we can count on for life, provision, abundance and peace.

7 promises in God’s Word we can hold onto because He lives

1. Jesus stands in the gap for us

Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one—for God himself has given us right standing with himself. Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honour at God’s right hand, pleading for us.

Romans 8:33-34

What Jesus did on the cross was to wipe our ledger clean. We don’t have to live with sin’s power over us because Jesus has paid the price and now stands before God the Father on our behalf.

2. We are made anew and can look forward with hope

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

2 Corinthians 5:17

3. Jesus gives us eternal life

And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God. The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.

Romans 8:10-11

As Jesus said, “The thief comes to steal, kill and destroy. I come that they might have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10), Jesus gives us life. Not just here and now, but for eternity.

4. We are children of God with a priceless inheritance

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay.

1 Peter 1:3-4

Isn’t it amazing that through Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection, we can now enjoy a restored relationship with God? “But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.”(John 1:12). We’re God’s children with an inheritance in heaven.

5. He provides for all of our needs

And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:19

6. Jesus gives us peace with God (and with others)

Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.

Romans 5:1

Peace can be so elusive in this bustling, changing world where no one is satisfied and nothing’s enough. Some of us may struggle with peace inside too, with others or even with ourselves. The truth is we will never find peace until we first find peace with our Creator and Father, and thanks to Jesus Christ, we now can have peace within.

7. In Jesus Christ, we hold the key to a satisfied life

Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”

John 6:35

This Easter, let’s honour our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, for through Him we now have all that we need to live rich and abundant lives. We serve a God who loves us so much that He died for us, so that we don’t have to live in fear, sin and despair. Jesus is alive, and because of Him, we can truly live.
