Faith 15/09/2022
Every 16th of September, Malaysia commemorates the establishment of the Malaysian federation in 1963, uniting us with our fellow citizens in North Borneo (now Sabah) and Sarawak.
As we mark the 59th anniversary of the Malaysian federation being established (Malaya, North Borneo, Sarawak and Singapore), we acknowledge the sovereignty of God over the history and progress of Malaysia as a nation.
In Christ, we can continue to find common ground, celebrate our differences and come together to bring Him glory. This Malaysia Day, we asked 5 Malaysians from East and West Malaysia to share a short prayer for the land.
We encourage you to pray these prayers aloud in unity, and proclaim God’s peace, love and righteousness over Malaysia, her people and the future.
“That leaders will be good and selfless people” – Chris Moloyos, Sabah
Heavenly Father,
I want to commit this nation of Malaysia into Your hands. On our birthday, I want to continue to proclaim Your goodness and prosperity for our land. Even though the future for the nation is not certain, I pray that there will be wisdom among the leaders as to what steps to take in the near future.
I also pray that the leaders and the people around them will be good and selfless people not looking to benefit themselves but to serve Malaysia and her people. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

“God, You are the One who makes miracles happen” – Rachel Tan, Selangor
Dear Lord,
I pray that Malaysia will be more peaceful, for its people to be more harmonious and loving and kind to each and everyone.
I pray that our leaders will lead our country with wisdom and fairness, and I pray that more people in Malaysia will get to know who God is and how great He is.
God, You are the One who makes miracles happen and we ask for you to bless Malaysia today. In Your Name, Amen.
“For the indigenous peoples of Malaysia to experience revival” – Joanne Ting, Sarawak
Dear Heavenly Father,
We want to uphold our beloved country unto Your hands. May You bless Malaysia abundantly and unto our future generations to come.
I want to pray for the indigenous peoples of Malaysia to experience revival among them and may they rise to be Christ warriors who protect their rights and lands. May they expand Your kingdom and plant Your seeds.
I want to pray for all the children in Malaysia to have basic necessities, medical and education access, and may they be nurtured with right guidance, grace and wisdom, growing to be Malaysia’s future leaders with integrity!
And lastly, I want to pray for the refugees who seek shelter in Malaysia. May they be blessed with warmth, food, shelter and long-term sustainable programmes that benefit both themselves and our society, and may they be well equipped and skilled, to be able for them to return home to be reunited with their family.
Thank You Father for covering our land and people, with Your light.
In Jesus Christ I pray, Amen.

“May families dwell together with encouragement, tolerance and love” – Tay Ti Mei, Sarawak
We thank God Almighty for His blessing upon our land, our rich natural resources, our colourful people adjusting harmoniously together in Malaysia, “ tanah tumpah darahku. “
May the fathers’ turn their hearts to the children and families dwell together with encouragement, tolerance and love. We pray that our next generation will appreciate their past , be the voice, and courageously explore new frontiers.
Bless our government and judiciary with skill, knowledge and integrity. May God grant our political leaders to be good role models, walk their talk and hold only a vision for goodness and prosperity.
“For a smooth election, that righteousness and justice will be present” – Ezra Ng, Johor
Heavenly Father,
I would like to thank You for all the years that You have protected Malaysia and now I would like to commit this nation into Your loving hands as we celebrate Malaysia Day.
We pray that good, capable and righteous people will be elected into positions of power, and that they will fear Your Name.
I would like to commit the next general elections into Your hand. When it happens, I pray for a smooth election, that righteousness and justice will be present. Let nothing evil prevail in our country.
Thank you, Lord. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Prayer changes things. God, hear our cry for our beloved Malaysia.
Over the past few years, our nation has gone through changes both seen and unseen. The future is unprecedented in many ways, but there is no room for fear in Jesus.
We can entrust Malaysia into His sovereign hands, knowing that He is God who knows all, sees all and retains control over all. More than that, however, we can rejoice as we pray because we have a faithful Lord and Father, whose plans for us are good and gracious.
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
As we celebrate Malaysia Day, we thank God for making us Malaysians, for placing us here at this very moment in eternity to make a difference, impact generations and share His love with those around us.
